The Hub: The effective center of an activity, region, or network.
Black people and POC who are members of the LGBTQ community, have been at the center of popular
culture for forever. We are the innovators and creators that give birth to sayings, fashion, dances, and
whatever is trending and yet here in Wilmington, we are not in community with each other.
There isn’t a safe space for us to exist in our complete humanity while also making sure that we are
always aware of our health status. Beautiful Gate is in the unique position of manufacturing a safe
environment for Black and POC LGBTQ people and giving them a free resource to get tested for HIV and
provide them free prevention materials.
